On-Boarding New Employees

Your new employees are starting - now what?  Your chances of retaining them are much higher if they receive a thorough on-boarding program, which will guide, train and coach them in the first 6 months to one year of employment.

On-boarding, different than an orientation checklist, will go a long way to ensure they have every opportunity to be successful in their new role.

Consider these strategies:

- Pair them with a mentor who can provide them direction.

- Ensure they have one on-one-time with their manager, to clarify their priorities and provide them with feedback.

- Include opportunities for them to meet with other departments.

- Find a way to have them to learn about the customer experience - from the customer.
